Career
Karen was born in Shillong, India. Although she was raised in Toronto, Canada before moving to London to study at the Guildford School of Acting. She appeared in the original cast of Mamma Mia! and worked with Indian composer A.R. Rahman in developing material for Bombay Dreams. She collaborated with Rahman on the main theme song for the film 'Provoked'. Karen has also appeared in several feature films including Flight to Fury and The Colour of Magic, and appeared as the lead female in The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior.  
Karen released her first single "It's Me (You're Talking To)" in 2003, which was a top 10 airplay hit in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Prior to releasing her solo work, she was also the lead vocalist on Dutch Dance musician/producer DJ Jurgen's 2000 eurodance single "Higher and Higher". She also released her single "Hypnotize" in April 2010. Karen is currently working on her latest music venture "The Girl In The Pink Glasses"

Karen was cast in BBC's Waterloo Road as a Spanish Teacher called Francesca Montoya. She has played the role since the start of Series 6 2010. In Waterloo Road she is known as the sassy teacher, with a new age way of teaching,Karen's character has recently been involved in a very sensitive issue that gripped the nation when she got involved with one of her students.  Karen is also starring in the CBBC series Pixelface where she plays Alexia, a posh attention seeking games console character that thinks the whole world revolves around her, this programme is guaranteed to make you laugh.
